John Earnest (JohnEarnest (https://github.com/JohnEarnest))

"What did the Galileo space probe have in common with hobbyist video game development and Hewlett-Packard graphing calculators? In this talk we will take a journey through computing history to learn about CHIP-8, a game console from 1977 that never existed, and how enthusiasts around the world keep it alive with new software. Let’s write some homebrew together!"

Samantha Goldstein (@samantha_gold (https://twitter.com/samantha_gold))

This talk will focus on the practice of making programs that exist simply to surprise and delight. I’ll talk to you a bit about my own work in VR, mixed reality, and more recently, bot making, and how creative practice can break down barriers to learning new pieces of technology. You’ll walk away knowing the basic building blocks to create your own silly bots with laser eyes and sparkling crowns!

Augmenting Reality with ARKit and React Viro

Apple’s recent announcement of ARKit has created a lot of excitement amongst developers. And now Viro Media’s AR/VR platform is bringing all that power to React. In this talk, we’ll explain how to create AR experiences in React, and will live code some fun AR scenes by adding virtual objects to the world, interacting with them, and building spatial UI around them.
