Active Storytelling: Chronicles of Captain Blood

Details

This social event is a cross between a book club session, a drama class and an old-fashioned language lesson with that advantage that you don't need to prepare in advance.

When you arrive, you will get a printout with a short story to present. This time it will be a short story from "Chronicles of Captain Blood" collection by Rafael Sabatini. They will take us to the warm Caribbean with tall ships, swashbuckling pirates and handsome governors' daughters.

After you get your part, you will have some time to prepare your 5-10 minute storytelling performance. I highly encourage committing to memory the main plot and a few expressions, and then telling the story from memory as you tell your friends about your holiday adventures, but you can just read it aloud if you want. At 7:30 or a bit later, when the crowd pours into the theatre and frees the hall, we get together in a traditional circle around an artificial candle and enjoy a makeshift storytelling session, which hopefully will be finished by the break.

You will find me on the ground floor near the box office (the one facing Thames) holding a pile of handouts.

The participation in the event is free.

In case you get lost, my telephone number is 07402841546. You are welcome to call or text, but don't leave any voice messages.
