What we're about

The Crooked River Chapter of the Buckeye Trail Association is the chapter for those who live near or along the Akron (http://www.buckeyetrail.org/sections/sections.php?section=akron), Bedford (http://www.buckeyetrail.org/sections/sections.php?section=bedford), Burton (http://www.buckeyetrail.org/sections/sections.php?section=bedford), and Mogadore (http://www.buckeyetrail.org/sections/sections.php?section=mogadore) sections. These sections comprise the majority of the "Little Loop". Hikers who complete the "Little Loop" are eligible for a patch (http://www.buckeyetrail.org/circuit.php)! The CRC’s extent includes the Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Summit, Ashtabula, Trumbull, Portage, Mahoning and Stark Counties (Stark County is shared with the Muskingum Lakes Chapter). We support the Buckeye Trail through hiking, backpacking, and volunteer events.

We provide outdoor recreation, opportunities to volunteer, education, access to the varied resources of Ohio and local economic benefits.

The Buckeye Trail, Ohio's State Scenic Trail, is a sustainable hiking trail that provides a safe and unique experience throughout the state reflecting the diverse resources, people and stories of Ohio. The trail is a dedicated, recognized and protected route developed and maintained by the Buckeye Trail Association, an organization reflective of the diversity of the trail. The Buckeye Trail Association works in close partnership with communities, organizations and agencies around Ohio creating a legacy for present and future generations.

The Buckeye Trail Association will be providing beer as a fund raiser with proceeds benefiting the BTA and the Crooked River Chapter. Trail Runners are kind of like hikers who go really fast! We'll quench their thirst, help them celebrate or get over their defeat, either way, we make friends, increase awareness, and raise money to support the trail. We need 4 or 5 volunteers to help. No experience necessary. Will train. Just need to be able to take money and pour a beer. The full shift is 7 hours, but even if you can come for an hour or two, that helps. Five hours will earn you a volunteer patch!

Crooked River Chapter Glasses will be for sale - volunteer discount rate applies.

Mmmmm Beer - BT 50K

Oak Grove Picnic Area

Looking for at least four (4) volunteers to sell beer and glasses to thirsty trail runners as they finish the BT50K. Would love to have four volunteers to do two shifts of three hours. This is a good money maker for the Chapter and a fun event. The position may require some quality control measures. No experience needed, will train. Please indicate below what hours you can be available.

More information about the BT50K can be found at:
Western Reserve Racing BT50K

They are also in need of volunteers, so if you would like to help by manning an aid station etc, visit the Western Reserve Racing website above.

Mmmmm Beer - Leave No Trace Half Marathon, 15k, 5k

Camp Manatoc Dining Hall

Looking for at least three (3) volunteers to sell beer and glasses to thirsty trail runners as they finish the Leave No Trace Half Marathon, 15K or 5K at Camp Manatoc.
