Turtle Mountain (North Peak) Hike

13019 20 Ave

**Please read the entire description before RSVP'ing** Join Cole and fellow Crowsnest Outdoor Society members for an evening hike to the North Peak of Turtle Mountain. While our pace will be anything but breakneck, there will be no time to waste in order to get up and back before nightfall on this short but strenuous hike. Distance: Approximately 6 KM return Elevation Gain: 900 meters (approx 2950 feet) Difficulty Level: Difficult (Not sure what this means? View our trip ratings here: https://www.meetup.com/CrowsnestOutdoorsSociety/pages/29264667/Trip_Ratings/) Length of Trip: Our trail head is very close which means our drive time is minimal. However, we will be looking at in the vicinity of 3.5 hours on the trail due to the massive elevation gain over such a short distance. Max Group Size: 15 members. When you RSVP, there will be a guest option. This is ONLY for members who have children, to indicate how many children they will be bringing on the hike. Please do not use this for a partner or a friend. They must have their own Meetup account and be part of the group and RSVP on their own behalf. Meeting Time / Location: Please arrive no later than 5:30 PM at Gazebo Park in Blairmore. If you are planning on meeting the group at the trail head, please leave a comment on this event to inform the coordinator and other member Children & Dogs: Children and dogs are welcome on this hike. However, we are really going to have to move on this one. It is suggested that, if you're planning on bringing children, that they be competent, fit hikers. Required Gear: - Appropriate clothing for the weather - Snacks and water - Bear spray - Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen) Optional, but Recommended Gear: - Hiking poles - First aid kit IMPORTANT INFORMATION: It is the members responsibility to check this event up to noon on the day of the trip for any updates, changes, or cancellations. The coordinator will try their best to contact all of the members who have RSVP'd, but this is not guaranteed. Trip coordinators / leads of the Crowsnest Outdoors Society are volunteers, not certified guides. All members are responsible for assessing their current physical condition, the weather conditions, and watching themselves on the trail. You are responsible for your own safety and well-being, as well as any children or pets that are with you. RSVP Courtesy: If you have committed to attend and then cannot go, please ensure that you change your RSVP on this event. When the guest list is full, Meetup will automatically create a wait list. By withdrawing, it allows the first person on the wait list to be put on the attendance list. Please make every effort to do this at least 24 hours before the trip (although we understand this could be out of your control).

South Peak of Livingstone Range Hike / Scramble

13019 20 Ave

**Please read the entire description before RSVP'ing** Join Cole and fellow Crowsnest Outdoor Society members for a full day hike / scramble to the South Peak of Livingstone Range. Our group has been in this area before, although we stopped before this hike turned into a scramble. While this hike will have some ridge scrambling, exposure is minimal and it is definitely more than a ridge hike than a true scramble. Distance: Approximately 13 KM return Elevation Gain: 800 meters (approx 2600 feet) Difficulty Level: Difficult (Easy scrambling involved) (Not sure what this means? View our trip ratings here: https://www.meetup.com/CrowsnestOutdoorsSociety/pages/29264667/Trip_Ratings/) Length of Trip: We will have approximately a 15 minute drive to and from the trail head, a portion of which is on well maintained gravel road. We are expecting to be on the trail for approximately 6 hours. Max Group Size: 12 members. When you RSVP, there will be a guest option. This is ONLY for members who have children, to indicate how many children they will be bringing on the hike. Please do not use this for a partner or a friend. They must have their own Meetup account and be part of the group and RSVP on their own behalf. Meeting Time / Location: Please arrive no later than 8:00 AM at Gazebo Park in Blairmore. If you are planning on meeting the group at the trail head, please leave a comment on this event to inform the coordinator and other member Children & Dogs: Both are welcome to attend, but please remember that this hike will gain significant elevation and will involve some scrambling (albeit easy w/ little exposure).
