Presentation:
NLP, or natural language processing, has its roots in the beginning of modern computing. In fact Alan Turing, who is widely considered to be the father of the computer, published his famed article "Computing Machinery and Intelligence" all the way back in 1950. To date the most advanced NLP capabilities have been available only to the Python community through libraries like Tensorflow and Spacy, but thanks to the powerful capabilities of Crystal it may soon be possible to perform the same operations in a language that's fast, beautiful, and safe.
In this talk we'll be exploring some of the capabilities available to the Crystal community currently using Cadmium, a collection of shards focused on NLP and general machine learning. In specific we'll take a look at cadmium_lang, a language detection library with support for more than 110 languages.
