Cuddle Workshop & Gong Meditation in a Yurt: Saturday 11th August 2018 1pm-5pm
This will be an extra special Cuddle Workshop in a 6 metre heated yurt, at 'Anam Cara' in the heart of the North Yorkshire countryside. This is the second time we are doing this workshop and this beautiful venue, the feedback from attendees was amazing after the last one in March! Please note that his location is not accessible by public transport. Please message me before booking if you need a lift . If any attendees are able to offer a lift from Pocklington (7 miles) or York (9 miles), please message me or write a comment on this listing. The location would suit a group up to 13, so places are limited to that number. We have use of a kitchen and toilets in a building 20 metres from the yurt. You can arrive anytime after 12 noon and have a walk or sit in the garden. If you don't have to dash off straight after the workshop, bring vegetarian food to share so we can eat after the workshop, or you can go for a walk in the countryside after. This helps assimilate back to normality after the workshop. Gong Bath section: There will be a beautiful gong sound meditation for the final 50 minutes of the afternoon, given by the talented Nam Prakash Kaur. Gong meditation as a type of therapy has been around for thousands of years as a tool for healing. It is said to help with stress reduction and breaking up emotional blockages. Like giving a cuddle to your psyche! Cuddle Workshop section: This is a workshop in platonic touch which is about exploring connection, nurturing touch and personal boundaries. Since getting involved in this work, one thing that I have learned over and above all else is that human beings are basically kind and loving creatures. In my opinion, this is our natural state. We have a strong wish to serve others, to please the other, to be happy only when we see that the other is receiving pleasure. And this is often at the expense of getting our own needs met. Does that sound a familiar pattern? I can relate to that in my own life too! A part of this workshop is about asking ourselves "What would I like to receive unconditionally?" (don't worry you'll get a little help with this). At a cuddle workshop, we do exercises in pairs and then in larger groups. So you'll get the chance to mix with everyone in the room. And of course you don't have to cuddle anyone you don't want to. This workshop is LGBT friendly. I am always nervous if the media shows an interest in my workshop, but at the same time it's great to show you a flavour of what goes on. A documentary was shot about my workshop, what we do, the people who go and why. These are a few minutes from this:- https://youtu.be/LsT9nTiiIto Recently a journalist came to one of my cuddle workshops in London. She ended her article "I entered the workshop intrigued, but sceptical. I left with an appreciation of how open people can be, and an acute awareness of how quickly two individuals can connect. I feel that every embrace I shared today told me so much about the person I shared with, and I wonder how much they now know of me." At a Cuddle Workshop, we help participants to be able to ask for what they want and to say no when that's the right decision for them. A few weeks after my first Yorkshire Cuddle Workshop, I was grilled on BBC Radio Leeds Liz Green Breakfast Show about this workshop. Click to Listen:- https://www.dropbox.com/s/t6krsslo5vdpfn0/BBC%20Cuddle%20Workshop%20with%20Liz.mp3?dl=0 And then a few days later I was on nationwide on BBC radio where the presenter was a little kinder to me! https://www.dropbox.com/s/sy7qoajzoup4fzs/BBC%20Cuddle%20Workshop%20with%20Georgey.mp3?dl=0 Many of us are hard wired from our early teens to associate touch with sex. What would it be like to separate nurturing touch from sexual touch? And then to explore that nurturing touch, with the wisdom and understanding of an adult, but with a childlike innocence. What boundaries would we have? And would that touch go beyond gender to the realms of connecting with another human being (whoever that might be)? There was a time in our lives when we unashamedly hugged our parents, our toys, our friends, our pets because we knew it gave us immense comfort. For many of us, this was a time without any thoughts of our own goals and indeed without any suspicions regarding the other person's motives. At Cuddle Workshop, we provide a fun and warm hearted environment where you can re-learn nurturing touch. Whether you are an advanced cuddler or novice cuddler, this is for you! I am affiliated with Anna Fortes Mayer's Cuddle Workshop in London which has been around since 2011. I started attending as a 'novice cuddler' several years ago and now co-facilitate some events with Anna. Now I bring to Yorkshire all that I have learned. If you would like to book anonymously or if you need a different way of paying other than via Meetup, then please message me and I can sort that for you. Just look at what people said about a recent workshop:- "A beautiful, gradual journey, very gently held" "Thanks Andrew - beautifully held safe space" "Great workshop. I left very relaxed and feeling nurtured" "A really good workshop which left me feeling at peace" "Lovely venue and as newbies we felt comfortable straight away" "Wonderful, sublime, life enhancing, life changing...and so well facilitated" "Andrews facilitation took us through this 4 hour experience, sweetly and gently" (If you are a little nervous about attending a group workshop, or possibly recovering from a bad past experience with touch and you think that you might benefit most by a one to one appointment, please message me for details) You can email me via Meetup, but if you need to email me directly such as if you are not a Meetup member but would still like to book, my contact details are [masked]

What we're about

Cuddle Workshop Yorkshire is about exploring nurturing touch within safe and agreed boundaries. We explore platonic touch with a series of exercises, and you are encouraged to work out your own boundaries and you will get chance to ask for what touch you would like to receive. We welcome those who are nervous or confident about touch.

All our workshops have a safe and nurturing feel about them, all are LGBT friendly and of course clothing stays on! You are always at choice to step out of anything you find too challenging. One of the best videos to watch is one filmed at the London Cuddle Workshop, you'll notice me in the video but its worth bearing in mind my venue size allows for a maximum of 15 people. Which is great as you get lots of chances to work with different people, and I find that people are often willing to share their experiences when we have short discussion circles when there are not dozens of people in the room.
