Culinary Conversations, a new MeetUp group serving West Michigan’s food industry professionals (growers, producers, restauranteurs, and others), is designed to strengthen the conversation of the region’s food creator system. Launching in January 2019, Culinary Conversations will offer regularly scheduled MeetUp gatherings that include networking, educational opportunities, and speaker events. The Culinary Conversations MeetUp group is a partnership between the Grand Rapids Downtown Market Education Foundation, GROW, MSU Extension, and Start Garden.
CULINARY CONVERSATIONS WITH EVE TUROW PAUL:
GENERATION YUM—SHAPING THE FUTURE OF FOOD
How Millennial and Gen Z's love for organic fare, celebrity chefs, and microbrews will make or break the future of food.
LEAD EVENT SPONSOR: SPARTAN NASH
SUPPORTING EVENT SPONSOR: EXPERIENCE GRAND RAPIDS
Eve Turow Paul is a journalist and advisor who studies the wants and needs of young people around the world. Never before has a young generation paid this much attention to food.
Starting in 2012, Eve Turow Paul set out on a journey to understand why. She investigated the underlying drive for the obsession and will share her insights on this global phenomenon. Using psychology, sociology, anthropology and speaking to thought-leaders and people of the Millennial and Gen Z generations, she has examined people's anxieties, hopes and passions. She then looks at how individuals soothe themselves and fulfill these needs through food.
