GRCC Diversity Lecture - Youth Revolt: The Future of the Middle East

Details

This event was rescheduled (due to Reza getting stranded in a Houston Airport during one our last blizzards). There is no charge for this event. Anyone wanting to join us for dinner afterwards for one our group's lively discussions is welcome to join us.

Reza Aslan addresses the topics of Islam, the Middle East, and Muslim Americans with authority, wit, and an infectious optimism. He speaks for a young generation of Muslims—socially conscious, politically active, and technologically savvy. A new generation of young people clamoring for their rights and freedoms, with a vision that represents their values, not the values of a ruling elite of previous generations. Author of No god but God: The Origins, Evolution, and Future of Islam, Aslan reveals the nature of these historic societal changes. He unravels the complexities of the new Middle East and shows us what the future holds for this oft-misunderstood part of the world. Aslan is President and CEO of Aslan Media Inc.

Note: This will probably be a full house and there's not much street parking by Fountain Street Church - but there will be $3.00 event parking at the GRCC parking lot.

Anyone interested in gathering for refreshments and discussion is welcome to join us at the Cottage Bar on LaGrave (near Fulton). It may be easier to park there and walk the few blocks to the lecture!
