• Coffee Talkie: Second Sunday Morning Coffee Social. @ (Possibly Sightglass)

Since there is so much interest in the bean, . . .And since there is so much interest in good decnet social, . . .

Here is what will happen. Starting at 10:00, . . . We will have an nice and simple Coffee and Conversation.

The idea is simple, . . . you want some people to get together with for some intelligent conversation over coffee, tea or any other elixir.

On each table, or in different areas, will be placard with a topic.
    . . . Let's call that a "Table Topic"

Pick a topic an join in on the conversation. It's that simple.

Topics will be in the comments section before the event. (if we are orginzed). Post your ideas for Table Topics in the comments on the main event

Cost? Whatever you drink (and eat). Please do patronize the Farmers Market places with a drink or some bites.

The aim will be to make this a Monthly event that tries out a different place each time. And alternates between the city and the Valley. This is the City version.

Send a note with your suggestions of other places (Direct Message link) https://secure.meetup.com/messages/?new_convo=true&member_id=273063881

This event is part of It's "I wanted to do that" by the numbers.

    1. *First Friday (something eclectic).
    2. *Second Sunday Coffee Talkie (but there may be sometimes also a 2nd Saturday slipped in)
    3. *ThirdThursday (another eclectic event, but this time a weeknight). Like Poker night for example
    4. *Fourth Friday New (and old) Member Mixer. Our signature monthly event on the group.

. These elements will be happening every month on the group. (send suggestions of things to do)
. It will make it as easy as 1, 2, 3 with 4 for good measure.
    (To send suggestions) https://secure.meetup.com/messages/?new_convo=true&member_id=273063881

Making this a No Plus One event, . . . meaning, . . . If you want to bring a +1 have them RSVP on the group.
This way we all come "solo." Totally removes some stigma that way. Come have some stigma free coffee.

Come alone leave with some friends. Come with friends, . . . leave with more friends.

What's that? This sounds like so much fun you would like to help host or even be the host? No sweat. Send a note and we can make that happen. Everything is all set up. All you need to do is smile and wave. And you know how to do that!!

What about Covid? Whatever the Federal, State, County or City rules, or whatever is in place from the manamget will be in force.
At the moment that may be show card with proof at the door and wear mask when not sitting at tables.

This event is cross posted (posted to several groups). So the number of RSVP's do not reflect the real total RSVP'd. Last time we had avour 40 folks.

The MAIN location where this is posted to is

  • Event Postponed

    Needs a location

This event has needed to be postponed.

Meetup emails have been sent to all RSVP'd with very clear options for other replacement or refund.

Please check your meetup emails. Or make sure you have not set your settings to not get email or messages.

  • So you want to be an organizer? Find out how to post your own event on the group

Why not host some events. Great way to meet people!!!

Got an idea for an event or an event you want to do?

    NOW is your chance!!!!

It's a new year coming up. AND you want it to be different than the last.
Do you find events and think: "Gee, . . . I like this event but want it closer, or on a different day, or just a little earlier or later."

If you post the event you pick the time, and place and date that in convenient to you. As well as pick the content/topic/focus of the event.

    What a win!!!

This meetup is a giant collaboration. In that vein we welcome new organizers.

If you wish to become an Organizer on group. RSVP'ing here is a start and shows your agreement with the group rules for posting.
AND THEN fill out this form https://forms.gle/d1yNnhUiNP6CzyCw7

These are basic rules all organizers must abide by and work within. Mostly they are all about showing a respect for the members.

Best Practices or the rules simplified.

1.) No Emailing and no using the "discussion" box
    2.) No outside links
3.) All events are Hosted. There are no "no host" events.
4.) List any money costs in the first 2 or 3 lines.
5.) Special note about Repeat Events.
6.) Special note about city or area in title

Not too many rules. Not too complicated. They all have to do with respect for the membership.

1.) No Emailing AND No Discussion Box
The one BIG BIG rule I have is NOBODY messages the general membership via the email feature. Post the event and let Meetup send out all the notices. The discussion box is just another way for you to send spam. So that is closed, and only for the use and management by and of the (main) organizer only.

    2.) No Outside links:
No links to other meetups. No links to other social media (no instagram, no eventbrite, no twitter, no facebook etc).
For instance: Do not just put a Facebook link. Instead copy all the wording from FB and put the words. Plain and simple; Link's are lazy. So don't be lazy!!!
You want members to click the RSVP. So you don't give any other option that may lead them away from the event page.
*** If you "need" outside links of any sort: Contact the lead organizer and just make sure ok. It usually is. Just ask first.

3.) Meetup does not allow "No Host" events. You or the listed Event Host will be there and present. You will welcome and make sure people can find you or the meetup area. And that people will be able to actually be able to meet others from meetup. If members in attendance report you are not attending your events you will not be allowed to continue to post events. If you want to post an "informational" event then go and post it on Craigslist.

4.) List money costs in the first few lines.
This has to do with email notices. The email version of the event sends the first few lines of the writeup. If it's free, . . .say it's free. If it costs . . . say it early so people have the info.
If it is free it is best to include the word "Free" in the title.

5.) Events can repeat no more than every three weeks, unless you get permission ahead of time.
When making a repeating event DO NOT USE the auto-scheduling feature. After your event occurs log on and list it again.
The Auto-pilot is a problem as people forget they listed. They don't show up and people do. The complaints end up being filed against the group and not the organizer that bailed.
If you use the "repeat" feature it will be edited and the future ones edited off.

6.) List the city or area in the title. You get better turnout and less flakes.

There are some general guidelines to making great events
    General Guidelines:
    A.) Great wording
    B.) Great Pix
C.) 4 weeks notice is best.

    Cost of posting events?
We do not charge for access to the group. We only ask that the event is good decent social and creates community.

  • Camping Labor Day Weekend: Big Pine Lakes!!! Glaciers, Roaring Rivers

This year we get to start and end the summer at an amazing place.

Memorial Day Weekend Filled. Don't miss out here too

Big Pine Lakes is an amazing hidden gem. The water is a crazy hue. The Minarets rising above are stunning.

RSVP does not guarantee your spot. Payment is the only way to secure you place. Payment link https://py.pl/PizYU

Our events always fill up. And with lower limit . . . it will fill faster.

You don't see trips often to Big Pine Lakes. This is because area is only open from May to October. With such a small window sites are super hard to get. Especially for holiday weekends.
AND WE HAVE A PRIVATE SITE FOR Labor Day WEEKEND!!!!!!

Our site is amazing. Tons of conveniences. Small rustic cafe that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Many of the sites have electrical and water. or close by. Restrooms are close. Space for cars nearby.

Tons of shade from mature pines for many of the sites

We are steps away from the trail-head AND steps away from the roaring glacier fed Big Pine Creek.

Drive Time to the site from LA is reasonable with beautiful places to visit and stop at on the way there or home. From SF . . . it's a longer drive.

You only need the basics of camping gear. Perfect for first-timers. We have zooms ahead of time for First-timers.

Food: Everyone brings, stores and prepares their own food. This is for safety AND allergies. It's impossible for us to provide food that meets every diet limit, restriction, allergen. All food remains covered

Hiking and excursions: Since there are multiple things to do, we will use this to a social distancing advantage. Hikes & excursions will head out at multiple times making small groups

    Event is rain or shine.

Dogs OK on trail and in camp.

Firewood: We will provide a bundle of firewood to start. If you want a super roaring fire you can pickup some extra at the small store.

Carpools? Normally we make a carpool resource. It goes out a week in advance of the event.

    Cost for this adventure?
4 Days/3 nights on a Holiday Weekend in an AMAZING place
Roaring river, AMAZING ALPINE LAKES, cafe, side trips!

    $124 Per Person https://py.pl/PizYU RSVP
17 and under are 1/2 (contact for a link)

What if I have a +1 or +whatever? Cost is Per Person. Just do the payment link a 2nd or 3rd time.

    Dogs and Kids totally OK.

What if I stay two nights. Is it less? No. But since we have for Sun night you can stay as late as you want on Sunday before packing up. It gives us flexibility. Why not stay till Mon?

Are you frustrated with "surveys" that organizers have you fill out so they can discriminate? Are they even proud of discriminating and proclaim it by saying they pick and choose and exclude? The proclaim they are the bouncer at the door to keep out who they wish to exclude. Discrimination is not something to be proud of or to proclaim as a good thing.

We do NOT discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, and where applicable, sex, marital status, familial status, parental status, religion, sexual orientation, genetic information, political beliefs, or even for belly button lint.

  • Free! Art Adventure Zoom Soirée. Topic: Theater Of The Absurd

    Link visible for attendees

Howdy!! We started doing this Artsy Zoom Thingy at the start of the pandemic as a way to have social while needing the distance. We are keeping it going to supplement In Person events.

Be sure to fill out this form https://forms.gle/HNScXcdCmVeAAJbKA

This way we can send you the reminder and the Zoom link the day of the event.

All in all this will be a fun social evening where we accidentally learn something together.

    This is all sounds great.

How much does it cost? Oh yes . . . The cost is FREE!

That's a bargain even at twice the price!!!!

So why not splurge and come and share your time with us.
For an online event hopefully you will feel as if you have visited far off places and times. And maybe even see yourself in the those places and scenes.

We have been watching other artsy fartsy things being done. They tend to be essentially a power point. When it says "lecture" you better run!! There is no dynamic discussion or engagement. No interaction and no social.

AND . . . Most of all . . you really don't visit a place or meet the other people.

Just like anything else we do . . . ours will be different.

We will come out the other side richer for the experience.

Yes. This does mean there is no canned script.

On the day of the event you will get an email 2 or 3 hours before more in-depth info of what covering and the zoom links.

For those not aware I do have classical art training, as well as years of working within the art industry with curators, conservators, collectors, artists, museums, studios, institutions etc. So we will make this all very worthwhile.

Join us in this Art Adventure Social Soirée. Make some friends while learning and sharing, and sharing some learning.

IF you went to any previous Art Soiree you do NOT need to re-fill-out the google form.

    FUTURE EVENT DATES and Topics.

RSVP on any of these specific dates and show your interest on those. Or to add comments of what to cover.
