What we're about

https://a248.e.akamai.net/secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/9/1/1/1/600_446797137.jpeg

Curious Kat’s Adventure Club is a community of interesting and curious people who would like to explore London, England, and well, let’s think big - the world in general. :) If you would like to live your life to the fullest, have fun, make new friends and meet like-minded people this is the place for you.

I would love to build up a community through which we can not only share our ideas and put them in practice but through which we can also develop our full potential, network and achieve our goals and dreams. :)

How will we do it? Step by step. We will get to know each other on various adventures. Whether it's the great outdoors (hiking, walking, cycling, sightseeing, visiting places, camping, day trips, trips abroad, holidays) or unusual indoors where we can do a bit of social networking (ice bar, jazz venues, hidden gems that only few know about), dining (whether it’s fine dining or just off beaten track restaurant adventure) or something from the cultural menu which is so rich in London (theatres, galleries, cinemas) - all the ideas are welcome. I’m up for adventure and will try everything once. And I would most welcome your suggestions – if you come across something in line with the spirit of this group, please email me!

The best thing about the community is that there is space for everyone as each one of you has unique ideas and all the ideas are welcome. I truly believe that everyone has something valuable they can bring to the table and everyone has some hidden talents that might need to be unlocked.

What sort of events can you expect to find here? We have some hiking trips coming up – we love travelling, hiking and exploring countryside, whether it is around London or further afield. There are some weekend breaks on the horizon, travel UK and abroad, once again they will be filled with adventure – hiking, walking, kayaking… I will look into organizing some city breaks as well – Europe is just one hour away! And finally the World – we will go on longer holidays as well. I will look into community projects in Africa or India or other active ways of exploring other continents.

How else will we help each other? We have a message board through which we can share ideas, unusual finds, jobs, freebies, skills and anything that others can find useful. I would love to create a support network through which we can not only make new friends but also exchange skills and services. If you don’t wish to receive emails about this however, you can update your settings and opt out from the message board emails. I know that once you are getting too many of them they just end up annoying you! ;p

If you like the idea, please join and please tell your friends: katsadventures.com (http://katsadventures.com/)

Please note, due to UK legislation all the events are for adults only as we don't have the necessary checks and qualifications and all the other paperwork (and there is a multitude of them) needed to work with children.

Weekend in Swiss Alps - Hiking and Cheese Tasting!

You will find all the info when you read the event details below and click on the link in the event details

£25.90

The Swiss Alps are a must do before you die and Gstaad offers you an opportunity to see stunning views of the alps in a tight budget. Gstaad is just a village. The locals – and there are fewer of them than there are cows – still work to the seasons, taking cattle to pasture in summer and gathering them in when the weather gets cold. They smoke pipes and make their own cheese. The air is fresh with little pollution, the views are otherworldly and the night sky shamelessly reveals to you every star and constellation. Warning: This hike requires good fitness, healthy knees and a good head for heights. Check pictures from our hike last year: https://photos.app.goo.gl/R9KariUeR8iHuEDW2 ITINERARY THURSDAY Fly to Geneva and transfer to Gstaad and meet your new friends at your accommodation. If you arrive early enough, you will have a chance to stroll the town square and visit a local cafe chocolatier or eat some cheese. Make sure to arrive at Geneva airport before 19:30 to catch the last train transfer to Gstaad otherwise, you will need to catch a taxi costing you around £100 to £200. The train ride offers stunning views over Geneva Lake, following the hills of Montreaux all the way to Gstaad. Come prepared to take many pictures. FRIDAY - Glacier 3000 We will hike at the foot of the Wildhorn over breathtaking alpine lands, along rivers and waterfalls with a typical lunch at a restaurant set atop of the hills. Some sections of this walk will be at the edge of very steep trails, so you must be comfortable enough with heights. SATURDAY We will take a gondola up to a petting zoo and hike over more alpine meadows finishing at the Launesen Lake. SUNDAY Either head back home early or stick around for one last easy trek in Saanen town. OPTIONAL Buy a Swiss Travel Card and stay an extra day to visit Mont Blanc and Matterhorn! Both are only 3-4 hours away from Gstaad. ACCOMMODATION Gstaad is expensive so we will stay in a high-quality hostel with very comfy bunk beds. We will be staying in Saanen village and this is your town for the weekend: The hostel has a bar and excellent food. Buffet breakfast is included. PRICE - £250 Once the deposit of £25 + paypal fees has been paid we will contact you with further details. What`s included: 3 nights accommodation at a high quality hostel Buffet breakfast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday Bedding and towel Guided hike What`s not included: To make is easier for you to spread your expenses, we left out all the other things, which you can add later, or choose a different solution. The hostel can prepare this for you @ £7 per lunch • Dinner. The hostel serves a three-course dinner @ £14 each dinner • Gondola passes. We will try to use buses whenever possible, or simply walk, but be prepared to spend £97 maximum for your whole stay to get around the alps. We are working with the hostel to get us a good deal and will update this soon, but if you are comfortable with this price, go ahead and book your place. • Airport transfer. Train from Zurich airport = 3 hours travel @ £80 max return (both ways) • Fondue picnic £15 • Toboggan £10 • Insurance Terms & Conditions: https://www.meetup.com/Curious-Kat-Adventure-Club/pages/27636688/Terms_and_Conditions/ Cancellations: www.meetup.com/Curious-Kat-Adventure-Club/pages/What_to_do_if_you_can_no_longer_attend_an_event/ .
