January book: 'Where the Crawdads Sing', by Delia Owens Do you like books? Do you like monkeys?* Then come talk about books with us! *This part isn't actually necessary. For the moment this will be online, for obvious reasons. Apart from that, it's pretty much a standard book club: we read a book, we chat about it. Simples. Last Thursday of each month, 8pm. BUT we don't wanna be all dictator-like, so we want YOU to chuck book names at us! Books you love, books you suspect you might love but haven't yet read, books you hate with a fiery passion so strong you wanna rant about it to a group, books about which you know squat but they have a pretty cover - whatever! Add them to the recommendations list on our very own Curious Bookworms web page at THIS HERE LINK: https://bookclubz.com/clubs/22340/join/a9a202/ You need to join the book club, then once you're in you'll see the 'Books We Want To Read' link over on the left. Click on that, and commence recommending! We'll select three books at semi-random each month from the list, then we'll all vote for the one we'd like to be our next read. Each meeting, we'll announce the winning book for the following month. Hurrah! As for the discussion, if it's one of your suggestions that gets chosen, YOU get to come up with some questions for us to discuss! Yay! (But if you don't want to, tell us and we will. This is a no-stress situation. It's alllll good.) Small but important note: All views are valid. People are allowed to like or dislike any book. So...bear that in mind when you suggest books. For example, if you wanna suggest your great-grandmother's autobiography, go for it! Yay! We love your great-grandma! We wanna read it! BUT...we might not love her book. And that's OK! It's nothing personal. Just maybe think twice about suggesting a book if it would break your heart to hear people say not-delighted things about it. (I personally have gone with recommending books I haven't read yet, because WHAT THE HEY and IT'S A BOOK ADVENTURE and I (probably) won't cry if you hate them.) So, yeah. Tell us you're coming, join the page, recommend books - and get thinking about your favourite book for our very first meeting! Hope to see you there!
