Curve Unit is a social organization dedicated to the progress, growth, and livelihood of female motorcycle riders. We fully support safe, responsible riding and encourage positive development within the female riding family. Our members strive to improve surrounding communities by way of annual charity events and widespread community service efforts.
Curve Unit hosts a monthly group ride (typically on the 2nd Sunday), lead by one of our members. Most of the rides are "open", meaning that men can join. We'll make this clear in the title. Female riders are welcome to all events and overnighters.
We'll conduct a safety briefing at the meet spot and then break into groups. We welcome all skill levels and newbies are more than welcome. However, you must have a valid motorcycle license, current registration, and insurance coverage. Head-to-gear is strongly encouraged.
Our rides are spread out all over the bay, central valley, and beyond. We've hosted rides in: Santa Cruz, Woodside, Mt Diablo, Bodega, Berryessa, Hwy 49 / Modesto, Placerville / Ice House, etc. The rides themselves are anywhere from 40 miles to 200 miles long.
Hey CU fam!
Our October ride is called the "Little Dragon" and it's our most popular ride of the year. We meet at the Fruit Yard (east of Modesto) and ride to Highway 49, known as the Little Dragon, named after the Tail of the Dragon in NC. Is this far from the Bay Area? YES. Is it a really long day? YES. Is it totally worth it? YES.
This is an OPEN ride, meaning that men are invited.
Please note that Curve Unit's homebase is facebook. We've posted the event there as well, and you'll see many rsvps there:
The details are still TBD, but I'll do my best to provide a few important notes below.
We'll meet at the Fruit Yard (7948 Yosemite Blvd, Modesto) at 10 am.
(ksu at 10:30 am)
Route: TBD but will likely include: Hwy 132 into Coulterville, Hwy 49 to the observation area, Hornitas Rd, Bear Valley Road.
Lunch: most likely at Louie's Place in LaGrange. It will be a late lunch, bring snacks!
Total Miles: approx 140 miles (ride only)
Unfortunately I *won't* be able to do a bay area meet spot, because I'm headed over the day before. But if enough folks are interested, perhaps we can try to organize something.
P.S. This is a 300 - 350 mile day if you're coming from the bay area. Some folks stay in Modesto the night before.
I'll add more details as I have them.
This day is going to be epic, and we can't wait to see you all!
Arrive rested, hydrated, properly geared, and legal. CU rolls w/ sweep vehicles in the unfortunate event the Lil' Dragon bites someone, not to pick up your moto from the impound yard. A special note of caution to newbies, this route is challenging due to sheer distance and physical/mental demand. With that said, we welcome all skill levels to give it a go. We divide the whole into smaller/safer groups according to your comfort level.
