Have you started a meditation practice, only to stop because you either didn’t have the discipline, or because it didn’t seem to be doing anything for you? I’ve been meditating 45 years, been through about 10 groups (they were all good—some eastern, some western, some secular), have taught a course around town for 20 years called “Methods of Meditation,” and have relevant credentials and experience: counselor (MS) and religion professor (PhD). As a result, I’ve thought through what the essentials aspects of meditation are, and how to tailor a meditation practice for a person who otherwise might not continue to do it.
If you have taken my course, you’ll BE GETTING NEW MATERIAL if you attend. Whether or not you’ve ever tried, however, what I can promise you is that if you come to this meetup, you will leave either being able to meditate more effectively, or with a better understanding of why meditation may not be something you should pursue right now.
I’ve set up three initial meeting times to accommodate different people’s availabilities. Please RSVP, but don’t come if you might not be on time. If you can’t make one of the initial meetings, we can do the whole thing later on individually or with a smaller group. In my experience, very few people attend subsequent meetup meetings of this kind, so you would likely have me all to yourself! It’ll be more fun, however, if you can get to one of the first meetings. Again; do RSVP! And no guests—unless they also can be on time and are curious about meditation. For more about me see my website at davidlowmsphd.com (although, I do need to update it).
