What we're about

Meet other local movie fans! Come join us for a variety of meetups, including watching current releases in a movie theater, discussing movies at a cafe, and participating in special movie events around town. http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/d/2/1/8/event_14033784.jpeg

The organizers schedule some meetups, but once you've joined, you can suggest a movie that you want to see with the group. You can also add additional information yourself or let other members contribute to the planning. (For more information click here (http://www.meetup.com/help/How-can-I-help-plan-a-Meetup/).)

If you would like additional information about the group, click on the Pages link above. To get a sense of what a meetup is like, click on Message Board (under the Discussions link above) and then on Descriptions of Past Meetups.

Everyone is welcome, whether you are an avid movie lover or simply want to meet new people. You may come to understand a movie in a way you never would have before, or enjoy talking to someone who understands your passion for movies. Come join us!

DVD Discussion Group: In the Heat of the Night (1967)

Panera Bread

This monthly Meetup is similar to a book club, only with a movie instead. We select a movie in advance, and we each watch the movie separately at our convenience. Then we get together to discuss it for an hour or so on the third Monday of each month. NOTE: For the next several meetings we will be meeting online using Zoom. If you wish to attend a meeting, first RSVP. On the day before, George will send the Zoom link and password to the emails of everyone who RSVPed "yes." This month we'll discuss In the Heat of the Night (1967), starring Sidney Poitier and Rod Steiger; it won five Oscars, including Best Picture. Reva will open the discussion, and then we will all get to express our opinions, reactions, and ideas about the film. "An African-American police detective is asked to investigate a murder in a racially hostile southern town." (imdb.com) For more information go to https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061811/ *Where Can I Find This Movie?:* To borrow a DVD copy, try Netflix or the public library.
