Writing Critique (Open to All)
Meet other aspiring writers and participate in a group writing critique! Learn from others' efforts and, if you want, share up to 7 double-spaced pages of your own work, preferably with line numbering. Bring copies for everybody and/or money for the copy machine so that you can get everybody's feedback in writing. RULES: We read the works of attendees in order of their arrival. Author picks somebody else to read and perhaps outlines what issues they'd like feedback on. Everybody makes written comments/corrections as we read. We then go around the circle, giving each attendee 1-2 mins to describe their honest reactions and to provide constructive feedback. Please DON'T engage in back-and-forth discussions, as this defeats the purpose of *listening* (and we barely have enough time as it is). Please get there a few minutes early so that we can start on time. If we start on time, we can get through 6 submissions. HELPFUL TIP: To do line numbering in Microsoft Word, go to Format > Document > Layout > Line Numbers. Click "Add line numbering" and "Continuous".

What we're about

Too busy to write? Not sure how to get started on that novel? Or how to finish? Looking for feedback or inspiration? This group of aspiring writers provides a regular opportunity to interact with others of your kind. Every 2nd meeting is an open critique where we read and provide constructive feedback on attendees' submissions. Intervening weeks are a mishmash of writing exercises, classes, full draft reviews, guest speakers, contests, etc.
