Introduction to Wildcat Ridge
Intermediate level group ride
Rolls at 5:30PM Sharp!
6-8miles, 500'-1000' elevation gain.
This is a "no drop" ride. the group will wait at all trail crossings and re-collect before continuing on. Within reason we will "session" any technical sections that riders want to retry. This is a meant to be a fun and challenging but "no pressure" ride.
For the sake of this ride "intermediate" riders means you've been actively mountain biking for more than a year, have a properly maintained mountain bike (no department store bikes) and are capable of keeping a steady pace through rough hilly terrain.
Intermediate pace (5 to 7mph avg) and skill level (Technical climbs and descents, small to medium log overs, small water crossings, challenging but not impossible rock gardens and features).
If you are comfortable riding all the trails in the Tourne in Denville/Boonton or Lewis Morris in Morristown and are looking for a bit more challenge, this is the ride for you.
If you've got the legs and lungs but not the technical skills this and you'd like to work on that aspect of riding this may be a good choice as well.
If you are thinking about joining the "Wildcat Wednesday" rides but are unsure if you're up for the advanced pace/skill level that ride requires then this ride will be a good test run for you.
If you've NEVER ridden the area trails then this probably isn't the ride for you. The Tuesday night Tourne rides would be a better place to start.
