You’re at a checkout counter in a store attempting to pay for something you’ve already received. Thanks in no small part to the store’s incomprehensible policies and the cashier’s unwillingness or inability to cooperate, prospects for completing the transaction within the next few hours look bleak, and you urgently need to leave to gather information about a final exam you need to take for a class you enrolled in but never attended. Your car is parked inside the store just past the checkout area, and there is no opening big enough to drive a car through. Negotiations with the store’s employees are not going well; they repeatedly assure you that you are free to leave but will not help to create an opening through which you can drive or enlighten you as to any other means of egress. Your urgency to depart reaches a fever pitch, and you get in the car and drive through the store’s front window, shattering the glass. As you drive off, apprehension about possible inconvenient attention from the authorities resulting from the smashed window takes root in your mind and begins to blossom, although it is soon alleviated somewhat by the welcome distraction that your teeth and hair seem to be falling out rapidly. You drive to a house where some friends are gathered, and you find that they are preparing to begin a game of Doppelkopf. You sit down to play, even though you are due to be married shortly and are already late for the ceremony. As the cards are dealt and play begins, you begin to let go of all your worries and concerns and soon notice that they are rapidly fading toward nothingness. You awake with a smile on your face. Come live the dream with us.
