What we're about

Who are we?

A group of architects, makers, designers, programmers, and creatives sharing our knowledge at your local hackspace D-Lab.

Who should join this group?

Interested in learning about 3D printing, Virtual Reality, Ceramics, Design, Laser Cutting, Photography, Architecture, Robotics, Programming or Drones? Join the group and keep up to date with all our workshops and events or drop by the lab and say hi.

Can I host a workshop?

Yes please! If you have a creative skill you'd like to share with the local community send us a message and we'll help you get the equipment and space you need to host an event. You can also sign up for our mentorship program and help young entrepreneurs and makers realise their potential.

Why do we meet?

We meet to share knowledge and discover new innovative ways of using technology. Keep posted for upcoming Ceramic 3D printing and Robotics Workshops.

Open Make Night

D-Lab

Open Make Night at D-Lab is a weekly meetup for members of this group to bring along their own projects to work on, get help, collaborate or just use some of our great machines and facilities. Whether you're building a robot, a model, an art piece, a game, an app, a website or anything - or if you are repairing or restoring something - bring it along and join us. Whether you are into wood, ceramics, mechanics, electronics, programming or any creative medium, this Meetup is open to you. Even if you just want to socialise with other makers or pick up some new skills or ideas, come along. D-Lab has a selection of 3D printers, laser cutters, a CNC router, a woodwork shop and various electronics tools available for you to use (after a short induction). We have technicians on hand to help you out, and the goal is that participants will assist each other. That said, this is a makers' meetup, so don't expect to get someone to build or repair stuff for you! All are welcome regardless of skills or abilities. Under sixteens must be accompanied by an adult. We ask for a small donation on the evening to go towards running the space and suggest £3 per person. We also ask you to pay for materials you use, but feel free to bring you own, and bring a laptop if you have one. Unfortunately we can't offer storage space for your items between sessions. Please sign up so we know how many people to expect, and change your rsvp if you find you can't make it. Find out more about D-Lab here: http://www.d-lab.co.uk/

Spoon carving

D-Lab

A friendly spoon, kuksa, bowl or anything else you might be carving meetup... No judgement and all levels welcome. We will start monthly and see how it goes. Bring your own tools and wood although I will also bring some wood or billets for use for those who don't have their own wood, and a few chopping blocks if you are doing axe work. If you are keen to try spoon carving but don't have tools send me a message as I have spares that I can lend on a first come first serve basis. If you are keen to buy tools to join in then I can point you in the right direction to get you started.
