Dyslexia, Reading Processes, and Interventions
Details
Dyslexia is an often misrepresented and misunderstood set of reading disorders that impair millions of learners around the world. During this one-hour class, we will explore the cognitive processes behind our amazing ability to read, the different types of dyslexia and how they manifest, effective interventions for the various dyslexias, how web technologies have attempted to aid dyslexic readers, and how we can do better. We’ll start from the basic science, so no prior knowledge is required. Simply come prepared to learn something new, extend what you already know, and possibly be asked to read a non-word like “TROOM” aloud.
Dan Ehrlich is a Senior UX Researcher at D2L, a former cognitive psychology researcher, and reading science enthusiast.
