What we're about

Mission: To build a community of female developers in the blockchain space by providing educational opportunities for learn smart contract development.

This group is for female developers interested in learning how to build, or currently working on decentralized applications (DApps) and blockchain projects. Let’s get together to study, learn from each other, and work on side projects. We’ll share what we are working on, team up to collaborate, and help each other out by sharing resources and asking/answering questions. Along with workshop style meetups, we will be offering instructional classes where you will learn to start programming smart contracts using Solidity.

You do not need experience with building DApps, but please have some programming experience (knowledge of JavaScript is a big plus).

If you’ve been interested in learning how to builds dapps and don’t know where to start, this is the place for you! If you are a developer looking for other women to collaborate on a dapp project, this is for you! Join us!

Intro to Solidity Part I

4551 Glencoe Ave

We are hosting a two-part workshop! Part I will be held on May 1st, 2019 from 6:30-8:30pm, followed by Part II on May 8th 2019 from 6:30-8:30pm. ** Please RSVP for Part II separately here: https://www.meetup.com/DApp-Ladies/events/260468173/ In this Intro to Solidity workshop, we’ll start with the basics. Participants will get a brief overview of blockchain technology and its history before we dive into Solidity and how to write smart contracts. We’ll go over developer tools and the basic components that make up a smart contract. Part II will expand upon these concepts and participants will be coding their very own smart contract. Solidity is a programming language used to write smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. These smart contracts are executed on the Ethereum Virtual Machine to create decentralized, immutable applications. This workshop is FREE OF CHARGE. No prior experience in Ethereum or blockchain is necessary, but we recommend participants to have prior coding experience. Our classes are for women or people who identify as a woman. Please bring your laptop. 6:30pm- snacks and introductions. Workshop begins promptly at 7:00pm. Thank you to Spring Labs for providing snacks and a space for us to host our first class! Spring Labs is an LA-based fin-tech founded entirely by immigrants with principles grounded in diversity and inclusion. With each of the three Co-Founders having been born outside of the United States, they strive to build a working environment that is welcoming to people of all race, gender and/or sexual orientation. https://www.springlabs.com/ Location: Spring Labs 4551 Glencoe Ave, Suite 100 Marina Del Rey, CA 90292 Parking: Free street parking (and plenty of it). There is no validation for parking should anyone choose to park in the parking lot. Instructor: Kseniya Lifanova is co-founder and software developer at Upstate Interactive, LLC. She has been working on smart contract development for the past year and wants to share what she has learned with other female developers. TAs: Swati Mazumder and Shanee Dinay
