Free DBT Lecture Series

Details

You're inivited to Sharp's free DBT lecture series, taught by therapists from the DBT-IOP skills program - an intensive therapy program that helps us learn skills to tolerate distress, regulate emotion, interact with others effectively, and be mindful. A lot of us have been through DBT and this is a great way to keep up on the material, OR it's a great way to learn DBT skills for free if you can't afford a program or don't have time. ;) It's definitely worth attending at least a few times.
The lectures are open to consumers and family/friends age 18+, every 2nd and 4th Tuesday.

Lecture Goals:

  1. Teach some of the basic DBT ideas and skills they teach in the program.
  2. Explain how maladaptive behaviors develop and are maintained.
  3. Explore ways to provide an environment that balances validation (where the focus is on acceptance) and problem-solving (where the focus is on change).
  4. Provide mutual support and problem solving between lecture attendees.
