Re: [atheists-27] Disgusting Media

Mathew,

I could not agree with you and the writers in the blog more. When channels like Discovery and the History Channel, and even entertainment channels like A&E, first started they were true to their names and carried really good shows. They all descended into showing total dross. I dropped all cable TV 3 years ago, hooked a spare PC to my big screen, and have no regrets whatsoever. I pay the absolute minimum possible for Internet, and through various sources on the Internet, and a digital antenna, can watch just about whatever I want, when I want. By the way I have always got an often unadvertised Internet-only special deal that is cheaper than the bundled specials, you just need to call them and ask... telling them you are going to drop them entirely usually gets them to spill the beans ;-)

Martin.

Television "documentaries" are often deliberately misleading nonsense, they are often mixtures of dramatic lies and facts.  Here is a recent blog article about this problem:  http://www.skepticblog.org/2013/08/07/discovery-channel-jumps-the-shark/

I subscribe to the minimal available cable TV offer because I want the fast internet access which is sold bundled with the unwanted TV.  Most people in the DC and Baltimore areas can get free TV from a roof antenna.
