This is a book club that reads books covering secular Buddhism, defined broadly. It meets once every two months, at cafes along the Red Line from DuPont to Bethesda.

What is Secular Buddhism? It is the form of Buddhism that de-emphasizes karma, realms, reincarnation, faith and devotion and emphasize everything that's left. Like the rest of Buddhism, it comes in many forms, from "mindfulness", to secular authors who's starting point was in Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana. Authors include Stephen Batchelor, Glen Wallis, Chogyam Trungpa (Shambhala/Path of the Warrior). Also includes philosophy and academic approaches.

It's a close group, who gets to join? If you are a member of fewer than 15 groups and you are in DC or it's suburbs. If you are a member of 1000s of meetups or live in Wyoming, consider joining the companion Facebook site instead.
