DCJS Playday REMOTE - HACKTOBERFEST 2020 edition
Details
This event is all about JavaScript! And it's all REMOTE! Join us for this fully online JS Playday, where we'll work on personal projects, ask questions, learn, & chat, all over video.
We will support folks that want to learn Node.js or plain old JavaScript via NodeSchool modules (http://nodeschool.io/), as well as people interested in all JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Angular...) So bring your side projects and come ready to learn and hack on things. This is a community event where you can help others learn your framework of choice or you can get assistance (based on the attendees' skills).
Near the beginning of the event (around 1:30pm) we do an introduction "circle". You say your name, what you're working on, what you can help others with, and what you would like help with. You can also share job opportunities or announce that you are looking for some. After the introduction circle, everything is self-organized.
We’ll be using Zoom for remote video conferencing, with Google Docs to help organize (we will add the Zoom details Saturday afternoon). Follow these instructions:

Join the DC JS community on Slack — it’ll help us during the event! DCTechSlack is a community-run Slack server that many DC Tech Meetups are on, and we hang out in the channel #dcjs-playday . Sign up on: http://dctech.chat
Location changes week to week. This week we’ll be staying home, and collaborating online!
We'll start in a central Zoom call, to run introductions & find out what everyone's working on, and what everyone can help with. We'll then have breakout rooms available: for Node, for React, for Vue, and for any other main topics that people want to discuss in rooms. Of course, you can also just hangout in the main room, to ask & answer questions as they come up. Or perhaps our Hallway room, for some good ol' fashioned physically-distanced social interactions.
We're excited to take our extremely helpful community online, and can't wait for you to join us! Reach out to us with any questions or suggestions here on Meetup, and we'll see you there!
