Photo Meet-ups Email Clarification--Please Read!

Hi everyone.! Our last email announcing the redesign of caused a few members to ask for clarification. Our apologies for any confusion and hopefully this email can answer any questions you may have.

First, we are NOT asking you to join a paysite. (PMU) was created to support our meetup groups, which actually encourages. We've been working on PMU for the past two months with a design company, but ended up taking the project back into our own hands. Our CFO, Barbara, has pointed out that while some members have paid their meetup "meeting" fees, most have not paid their meetup, monthly membership fees. (There are a select few that have supported us from the beginning, and we are forever greatful. Rest assured you will be acknowledged in the coming days if you are one of those people.)

When we started, we came up with a reasonable monthly fee that would cover our travel costs and time spent away from our other professions. Currently, Rolando, Barbara, AND Jerry have spent their own dime to get to our intitial meetups across the country.

Bottom line is this: it is not fair to those members that have paid their dues to allow members to continue to attend meetings without being current subscribers.'s format makes it very difficult to control member's access to events and enforce monthly dues, hence the creation of the new website. Again, is extremely supportive of having a website for your groups.

Our website is designed to not only give you other values and benefits for your monthly dues, but also to bring our groups together. Remember Rolando has said, "The co-op of groups" can bring you more in way of sponsorship discounts, guest speakers, etc. It really is to your advantage as a photographer to be active within We will help you take your photography to the next level - whatever that might be.

To our yearly subscription members: once you have signed up (registered) on the new site, drop Rolando or Barbara an email ([address removed] and [address removed]) so that we can grant you unlimited access. Distinguishing titles and badges are on the way too!

For our monthly subscribers (this means your card gets billed the same day each month), your previous subscription will be cancelled upon registration on the new site. You do have to enter your card information again, because we now have a paypal account for PMU. Paypal does not give us your credit card information at any time, it simply stores it in the subscription database in order to bill you monthly.

If you have any additional questions, or experience "turbulance" on our new site, please don't hesitate to contact one of the founders. All three of us are truly dedicated to PhotoMeetUps, and look foward to watching it grow over the coming months. Thanks, The PMU Team
