Geargasm 2017: The Return

Geargasm. Is. Here. Get ready to talk, gawk, and buy gear at the only event in the Mid-Atlantic that showcases UL gear.

We've reserved a group campsite (http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/gwj/recreation/camping-cabins/recarea/?recid=73685&actid=33) at Elizabeth Furnace for the weekend. Located a short distance from Front Royal, the campsite sits near the start of the Signal Knob trail (http://www.hikingupward.com/gwnf/SignalKnob/). If you are joining us to camp, pay $10 at the event towards the site.

We will have a great array of UL gear for you to check out -- packs, shelters, cook systems, and more. If you're a backpacker new to UL gear or looking to upgrade your current equipment, this event is the way to see the wide range of UL gear.

Start perfecting your chili recipes. Saturday night will feature a chili cook-off. The winner will get bragging rights and eternal fame.

One last note about the campsite -- there is no running water so plan to bring water with you or to bring a way to treat the water from Passage Creek.

Directions from 66: Take Exit 6 (Front Royal) off I-66. Take SR 340/522 South for 1.3 miles until you come to a stoplight. Turn right onto VA 55 west and continue for 5 miles to the small community of Waterlick. Turn left onto SR 678 and the entrance to the Elizabeth Furnace Group Campground will be on your left in about 3.5 miles.
