Describe your backpacking experience and background, please include longest mileage in a day (with pack) and coldest nights out.

I've had some experience in backpacking. I used to backpack in India and have been enjoying backpacking with DCUL since I moved to US. My longest mileage with a pack is 33 miles. My coldest night would be -5 F.

Describe your most recent outdoor adventure. When was it? How did you set it up? Did the weather cooperate? How did it go?

My most recent "adventure" (indeed) was the DCUL Great Range Traverse in the Adirondacks. It was a week ago. The weather co-operated very well. It was a tough trip, overall it went very well.

The Big Three: what specific gear (not just brands) do you use for your three-season shelter system, sleep system, and backpack? (It's okay if it isn't ultralight!)

I use a Gregory Baltoro 75 backpack. I have two sleeping bags - For summers, I use my 50 degree Quechua sleeping bag; For winters I have an awesome Western Mountaineering Versalite sleeping bag rated at 10 Deg F. It has worked well in temperatures below 10 Deg F. I have a Tarptent Moment DW - I think it is a four season tent.

Help us understand your reason for joining DC UL Backpacking, including your goals for lightening your load and quickening your backpacking pace.

I like DCUL - it is a great group. I like the tough trips that DCUL sets up. My backpacking load is heavy right now. My last trip has made me *think* about lightening my load in the future. Lets see.

How did you learn about our group? (I'm trying to improve our visibility, so I'm curious.)

I searched for backpacking on meetup and came across this group

I love backpacking!
