Describe your backpacking experience and background, please include longest mileage in a day (with pack) and coldest nights out.

I've been doing outdoorsy things (backpacking and otherwise) around North America all my life. I consider myself about 95% ultra-light. I love backpacking out west, but will go anywhere! The recent cold winters have given me some new backpacking experience camping in the snow, cross-country skiing, and enduring sub-zero temps (coldest night -17ish degrees!). My longest day was a 44-miler.

Describe your most recent outdoor adventure. When was it? How did you set it up? Did the weather cooperate? How did it go?

The Maine Hut to Hut - a logistical, mental, and physical challenge! Fantastic experience learning to xc-ski in the snowy north with great company.

The Big Three: what specific gear (not just brands) do you use for your three-season shelter system, sleep system, and backpack? (It's okay if it isn't ultralight!)

HG Cuben Fiber tarp, HG +40 Top Quilt, BIAS Micro Weight Weenie Hammock, HG +40 or +0 Under Quilt, Zpacks Arc Blast.

Help us understand your reason for joining DC UL Backpacking, including your goals for lightening your load and quickening your backpacking pace.

Looking for more hiking adventures, and always looking for more ways to shave ounces!

How did you learn about our group? (I'm trying to improve our visibility, so I'm curious.)

It's all Peter Silverman's fault.
