Describe your backpacking experience and background, please include longest mileage in a day (with pack) and coldest nights out.

I have been backpacking since I was a teen and my longest mileage in a day that I can remember is probably around 28 miles. I've also done countless 15+ mile days. Low temp I experienced while backpack was -20ish deg while I was backpacking in the High Peaks in the Adirondacks.

Describe your most recent outdoor adventure. When was it? How did you set it up? Did the weather cooperate? How did it go?

As I am writing this, I just completed a 164 mile section of John Muir Trail in CA. It went from July 26 - Aug 9 2013. Almost 6 months of planning went into this trip as I wanted to be fully prepared for the longest and hardest backpacking trip I would ever undertake. With unusual rain storms, forest fires, and drought like conditions, everything went amazing! I guess all the experience I got this past year by doing all these weekend backpacking trips with these meetup groups paid off!

The Big Three: what specific gear (not just brands) do you use for your three-season shelter system, sleep system, and backpack? (It's okay if it isn't ultralight!)

I have a Six Moons Designs Skyscape X, Neo Air Xlite, a Enlightened Equipment Revelation 20 deg quilt, and a Zpacks Arc Blast.

Help us understand your reason for joining DC UL Backpacking, including your goals for lightening your load and quickening your backpacking pace.

Want to meet others that share my interest and love of backpacking. I also want to learn how to backpack more efficiently and discover new techniques.

How did you learn about our group? (I'm trying to improve our visibility, so I'm curious.)

Love backpacking and meeting new folks while doing it is a bonus!
