Describe your backpacking experience and background, please include longest mileage in a day (with pack) and coldest nights out.

I've hiked the Standing Stone Trail in PA and the Foothills Trail in SC. Both are in the 75-80 mile range with a number of 20 mile days in each trip. My coldest trip is probably Ramsey's Draft where we got to at least 20 and probably a bit below overnight.

Describe your most recent outdoor adventure. When was it? How did you set it up? Did the weather cooperate? How did it go?

Solo hiked the Foothills Trail in SC just after Christmas. The weather was fantastic. The one time it rained it even had the decency to start after dinner and stop just before wake-up.

The Big Three: what specific gear (not just brands) do you use for your three-season shelter system, sleep system, and backpack? (It's okay if it isn't ultralight!)

Taptent Notch for solo trips. Stratospire 2 when my daughter hikes with me. 15 deg down bag (marmot pinnacle), 30 deg quilt, and a 45 deg quilt. ULA Circuit pack

Help us understand your reason for joining DC UL Backpacking, including your goals for lightening your load and quickening your backpacking pace.

Looking for some interesting trips with folks that aren't afraid of putting in some mileage.

How did you learn about our group? (I'm trying to improve our visibility, so I'm curious.)

I met Michael and the group at the top of Mt Pleasant and really enjoyed vibe. (That probably isn't very helpful for improving visibility though!)

Introduction

I've been re-inspired to return to backpacking to spark the interest of my daughter with the great outdoors (which is working!) Looking to get out there with some adults and put in some miles.
