Paul Cezanne “Portraits” + French Impressionists at the National Gallery of Art

Details
Bonjour, we've updated this event description.
We will now meet in front of the museum at 10:45 am for Cezanne, and at 12:15 pm in the Rotunda for the other French Impressionists (feel free to join us for either or both).
This is one of the last opportunities to see the blockbuster Paul Cezanne “Portraits" exhibit at the National Gallery of Art before it closes. After visiting the Cezanne exhibit you are also welcome to join us in also seeing many of the other French Impressionists in the NGA’s permanent collection including Manet, Degas, van Gogh, Renoir and Monet. Full event details below.
Cezanne Portraits
Bringing together some 60 examples drawn from collections around the world, Cézanne Portraits is the first exhibition devoted to the famed post-impressionist’s portraits. The revelatory exhibition provides the first full visual account of Paul Cézanne’s portrait practice, exploring the pictorial and thematic characteristics of his works in the genre, the chronological development of his style and method, and the range and influence of his sitters. Several paintings are exclusive to the National Gallery of Art’s presentation, while some works have never before been exhibited in the United States.

Registration: FREE - This event is open to the public and all are welcome to attend including children and groups. No ticket is required, just show up. However, registering helps us determine how many people to expect and also allows you to stay informed of any event updates.
Weather: This event is indoors and will take place rain or shine.
Meeting Point: Meet outside the National Gallery of Art’s Madison Drive entrance. On Sundays the museum doesn’t open until 11:00. However, since this is an extremely popular exhibit let’s arrive at 10:45 to get in line and socialize beforehand in order to avoid the big crowds that are certain to show up later in the day. Look for a group of friendly people with “Washington, DC History & Culture” stickers, which we’ll hand out.
Format: The exhibit is self-guided. However, we can enjoy the art work together and your event hosts may provide some commentary on the exhibit.
Post-Event: Optional visit afterward to the National Gallery of Art’s world-famous French Impressionism galleries to see Manet, Degas, van Gogh, Renoir, Monet, etc. Meeting time is 12:15 pm in the museum Rotunda - next to the Madison Drive entrance. Look for a group of friendly people with “Washington, DC History & Culture” stickers, which we’ll hand out.
Additional Questions: Anything that can’t be answered by the above event description, Google, or common sense please let us know.
