Build Your Own Virtual Reality That Runs in an Internet Browser!

IMPORTANT NOTE:This meetup is a class targeted at members with an understanding of JavaScript. Although it will be tons of fun, this will not be your typical meetup with demos, companies, etc.

Virtual Reality is here, and with it comes the last component to turn the Internet into a Metaverse. WebVR (https://webvr.info/) is a Javascript API that allows you to run virtual reality experiences right in your Internet browser. In this class, Sean McBeth will teach us all about his WebVR framework, Primrose VR (http://www.primrosevr.com/), that makes it incredibly easy to design and build VR experiences for the web.

Learn how to make VR applications in your browser that run on all the latest headsets with Primrose VR. Primrose is a web development oriented framework for rapidly prototyping VR experiences. I will show you how you can get up and running in an HMD for VR application development faster than using a game programming tools like Unity, and how to incorporate those experiences into your website.

Tonight's Tools: Bring a laptop, your JavaScript programming chops, and your Google Cardboard or Oculus Rift.

Sean McBeth: In his varied career in software consulting he successfully bootstrapped and deployed multiple database applications for desktop and web covering workforce automation, data analytics, IoT, GIS, numeric and 3D simulation, and machine vision. He is now CEO and Chief Architect at Primrose VR (http://www.primrosevr.com/), building productive virtual reality workspaces.
