Bavarian Alps - Mt Wank (Edge Mountain) Loop Hike

Join myself and others for a day hike to Mt Wank (1780m). We will start our hike from Garmisch-Partenkirchen railway station making our way across to Wankbahn Talstation from where we hike up to Mt Wank. We will stop for lunch at the summit, after lunch we will head back down towards the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen or you have the option to take the cable car back down.

Join us for the long weekend in the Spanish mountains, as we hike across the Peaks of Europe. It is a hiking route that starts and ends at De Fuente covering Cabaña Verónica 2325m, Torre de los Horcados Rojos 2506m and Torre del Llambrión 2642m

The Picos de Europa
Literally: "Peaks of Europe", often abbreviated in English to the Picos are a range of mountains 20 km inland from the northern coast of Spain, in the Autonomous Communities of Asturias, Cantabria and Castile and León; they are part of the Cantabrian Mountains. A widely accepted origin for the name is that they were the first sight of Europe for ships arriving from the Americas.

Torre del Llambrión
The "Torre del Llambrión", also known as 'Llambrión' is the second highest summit of the Picos de Europa range. If 'Torre Cerredo', with its 2.648 meters, is the highest mountain of the range, the 'Llambrión' is 2.642 meters, just 6 meters lower than the 'Cerredo'.

The Berlin High Trail – explore the Zillertal Alps.

On the Berlin High Trail you can breathe real pioneer air: up here in the secluded mountain world of the Zillertal Alps there was one of the most important germ cells of mountaineering in the early 19th century. The construction of the Berliner Hütte began as early as 1879 - making the venerable building, which would rather deserve the name Alpenpalast than Berghütte, the oldest refuge in the Zillertal Alps. Under the cooperation of the Berlin section of the German Alpine Association further huts were built. Already in 1889 the transition from the Berliner Hütte to the Furtschaglhaus was extended as a mountain path and then ceremonially opened as the first stage of the Berlin High Trail. Today you still hike from hut to hut on these old paths and enjoy the wild and romantic Zillertal mountain landscape just like back then.

In eight days and close to 85 km, it leads you through a breathtaking mountain scenery and reach an elevation gain of around 6,000 meters. On day five, you'll reach the highest point of this trail, that also features a few nice climbing passages: Schönbichler Horn, at an altitude of 3134 m.

Zillertal Alps - Berlin High Trail
Truncated valleys, carved out by glaciers over time immemorial, alternate with dense woodlands spread over a total area of 422 square kilometres. Nestled in between are numerous traces of alpine culture: mountain huts, alpine farms and high mountain trails are all part of this vibrant natural and cultural landscape.
The challenging Berlin High Trail is one of the Great Walks – one of the most spectacular long-distance hikes in Tirol – and leads from the village of Finkenberg and the Gamshütte hut through the heart of the Zillertal Alps Nature Park. Hikers can look forward to fabulous views in a truly stunning glacier setting.

Mayrhofen
The market town of Mayrhofen at the end of the Zillertal Valley brings together the energy and qualities which characterise this lush mountain valley, offering a combination of activities and relaxation.

The Hike
The challenging Berlin High Trail is a must-do high Alpine hike starting in Mayrhofen and then to Finkenberg and leading right through the heart of the extraordinary Zillertal Alps Nature Park, one of Tirol's crown jewels. Among the highlights of the hike is the Berliner Hütte, the largest hut in Tirol to be run by the Austrian Alpine Club and the first hut in the region to become a listed building. With its wood-panelled rooms, five-metre-high dining hall and chandeliers on the ceiling, it is a true pearl of the Alps.
The Berlin High Trail is a challenging hike for experienced walkers. It takes around a week to complete the full trail from start to finish with 85Km and a total of 6,600 vertical metres.
