What we're about
ABOUT THIS GROUP
The DFW Fibromyalgia Support Group is an interpersonal process group in which members support each other under the guidance of clinically trained group facilitator, Margaret B. Schroeder. As a founding member of the DFW Fibromyalgia Support Group, Ms. Schroeder is deeply committed to the advocacy and support of people with chronic pain. This group was instrumental in her recovery from chronic illness and inspired her to pursue a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling so she could expand her efforts to help our population. Ms. Schroeder is now an LPC intern under the supervision of Dr. Ruth Whitely, LPC-S.
WHO THIS GROUP IS FOR
We serve people who are suffering with the daily struggles of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue and are looking for support in a therapeutic group setting. Members must be willing to meet with each other to discuss their lived experience with fibromyalgia. Many of our members have multiple conditions with overlapping symptoms, making differential diagnosis difficult, however all of our members have been told by a medical practitioner that they have fibromyalgia.
MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS AND PRODUCT SALESPEOPLE
Approaching any of our members for the purpose of selling any product or service, whether in the support group sessions or through direct or indirect communication, is strictly prohibited. Members who attempt to do this will be permanently banned. Please note, if you are a medical practitioner or allied health professional, you may email Margaret at mstherapist at protonmail dot com to discuss how you might be able to help our members. Professionals are prohibited from attending our support group meetings unless they are genuinely in need of personal support for fibromyalgia. Our members are grateful for the help of our medical and allied health partners, and for their adherence to this policy.
We look forward to seeing you soon,
Margaret B. Schroeder
