Dress for Success for Paddling in Cold Weather

Many people assume that there is no good paddling in the winter, that all kayaks and canoes should get packed away once the thermometer drops. I am sure the Eskimos would find that very amusing. The fact is that some of the best paddling adventures happen in the winter-- especially here in Texas--when there is actually water in the rivers and lakes and you are not being baked by the Texas sun. But to truly enjoy winter paddling you need to know what gear to use and some important safety tips. Teresa Patterson, Trinity River Paddle Trail Manager, President of the North Texas River Runners, and ACA Instructor, will team up with Dale Harris, Trinity River National Water Trail Chair and President of the Dallas Downriver Club, to share their knowledge and insights about how to gear up and how to stay safe to enjoy winter weather paddling so you can truly enjoy the water year round. The presentation will cover safety tips, wet suits vs dry Suits, Which boats are best for winter paddling, etc.
