18:00 - 18:30 REGISTRATION & WELCOME 18:30 - 18:50 James Littlejohn Ethereum's blockchain architectures lacks computational power, which is proving to be a significant problem particularly when it comes to complex computations such as machine learning algorithms. James will explain how it is possible to solve this issue by running these types of calculations off-chain using Golem; a distributed network optimised for computationally complex tasks, and TrueBit; a scalable verification solution that keeps off-chain transactions honest. He will also talk about how Oracle services can be kept honest by preventing manipulation of data that is linked to smart contacts from external 'real world' sources. 18:50 - 19:10 Matthew Higgs In this talk Matthew will discuss how Ethereum might improve and disrupt data science. He will discuss ways we can make data science more secure, ways we can give control of personal data back to individuals, and ways we can design secure information-sharing protocols for decentralised intelligent agents. It will be a very high-level talk intended to motivate discussion to connect the data science, and distributed ledger communities in Scotland. 19:10 - 19:30 Salena Worrall (Zonafide) Paul will talk about his digital wallet built using Ethereum for securing activities such as a house purchase, or a change of details with a bank. For an organisation, it may be an assurance to customers that a representative is genuine thereby reducing fraud.N.B. For security reasons, all attendees will be asked to provide their full names and an email address upon arriving at the venue. 19:30 - 21:00 PANEL Q&A / NETWORKING 23:00 - 07:00 Tim Draper (Opening Keynote DFJ) Join us for the Blockchain With The Best online conference. The US SEC deemed tokens issued by The DAO (a decentralised organisation that ran on Ethereum) as securities, and China banned all ICOs. Surprisingly there was a brief dip in the price of Ether followed by a full recovery. Testing of Raiden is under way, which promises to speed up transactions. The Metropolis hard fork has been delayed yet again, but will be released in two phases, Byzantium and Constantinople. 19:30 - 20:00 NETWORKING BREAK 20:00 - 20:30 Ronan Sanford (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ronansandford/) (Etherplay (http://etherplay.io/)) Etherplay brings the fun of video games to blockchain.
