What we’re about

This group is for people in the DC area living with disabilities and their caregivers/family. Living with a disability can be very isolating. You may be surrounded by many people, but none who can understand or relate to your experiences. I am hoping you will join our group and find a place where people living with disabilities can meet up and discuss their personal experiences in a non-judgmental environment, and also find events and activities that are FUN!

Our group is also open to caregivers. We are hoping that in the future, we will be able to have group meetings where disabled individuals can share in a peer to peer environment alongside others, and caregivers can do the same. Sharing what you are going through with other families is an opportunity to gain insight together and learn from one another. In addition to meetings to discuss our experiences with disability, we will also brainstorm and come up with fun activities and events that we can do together.

Our meetups will be no pressure to attend, or participate, and open to adjusting and adapting to members' individual needs. You can bring wheelchairs, pillows, service animals, whatever it is that you may need. If it makes you feel better, it makes us feel better! If you have been disabled, and on the sidelines socially, this is your chance to get in the game and have fun!
