Data Visualization & Analytical Web Applications
Summer is now over, children are back to school, and the weather is no longer appropriate for evening picnics in the parks. So it is perfect timing to start the new DSDT season! This month, we are focusing on data visualization and tools to help data engineers to simply create web dashboards. Be aware that the location for this meetup is different than what it was before. The event will take place at the Notman House, 51 Sherbrooke West (notman.org) *** Topic 1: Dash for interactive web apps This talk introduces Dash, an open-source library for building interactive data exploration web apps in pure Python. With Dash, scientists, engineers, analysts and other Python developers can build apps for themselves, their colleagues and their customers to visually explore, understand and monitor diverse data sets. We will cover Dash basics by building up a sample application from scratch. *** Topic 2: Practical example of Plotly and Dash usage During this talk, we will present our use of Plotly and Dash with a real-life problem. It has previously been used by a sale team to present the advantage of a new product to potential clients. Plotly allowed us to quickly develop an interactive dashboard with our data and Dash was the basis to customize it to our needs. We will cover both the design and code examples around this project. NEW LOCATION: Notman House, 51 Sherbrooke West (notman.org) Agenda : 6:30 - 6:45 PM: News and Introduction 6:45 – 7:30 PM: Dash Introduction – Nicolas Kruchten, VP Product at Plotly 7:30 - 8:15 PM: Practical example of Plotly and Dash usage - Thierry Moisan, R&D Scientist at JDA Labs 8:15 - 8:30 PM: Wrap-up (This November meetup is sponsored by Plotly and Ivado Labs)
