What we’re about
Design Thinking & Innovation (DT&I) is a community of creative people who seek to share their skill & knowledge to create a meaningful positive impact in the community. Our focus is designing for change and creating positive social impact using techniques in Human Centered Design (Design Thinking), UX & Lean.
Our mission is to create communities by educating, building relationships, establishing meaningful goals and seeking fieldwork in the community in Houston and beyond. We aim to connect interested individuals and learn about Design Thinking, Service Design, and User Experience. We encourage the sharing of knowledge during our events. We welcome individuals who have a passion for learning & personal growth but more importantly look forward to designing and developing better communities.
DT&I is the community of progressive brains about practicing the skills that could bring greater change. This is a forum to bring on people from processes, product and service design backgrounds. Come share the expertise you have if you already work in any of the above areas. If you are new to the design process then this is your place to learn new design approaches.

Exploring Visual Thinking
Improving, 10111 Richmond Ave. # 100, Houston, TX, USAll Design Thinkers,
Let’s start 2026 with our creative hats on!!
We are inviting you into the world of visual facilitation — a powerful, human-centered approach for making complex ideas clearer, conversations more inclusive, and collaboration more productive.
While many designers and innovators rely on sticky notes, maps, or digital canvases, far fewer have explored how live visual thinking can transform meetings, workshops, and strategy sessions.
Our guest speaker is a renowned visual facilitator Peter Durand, founder of Alphachimp LLC aims to close that gap and demonstrate how visual frameworks, rapid sketching, and real-time sense-making can elevate problem-solving across industries.
Peter is an internationally recognized graphic recorder, illustrator, and workshop facilitator, known for translating complex discussions into clear, compelling visual narratives. For more than 20 years he has supported organizations such as Houston Energy & Climate Week, UNICEF, SXSW, GM, Nissan, UTHealth, Vanderbilt University and numerous innovation teams, startups, and social impact groups. His work blends design, storytelling, systems thinking, and behavioral insights to help groups see what they mean — accelerating clarity, alignment, and decision-making.
Peter has delivered visual thinking workshops across North America, Europe, and Asia, teaching teams how to use sketching, mapping, and diagramming to improve communication and create more engaging, productive collaboration environments. He brings an approachable style, a sense of humor, and a belief that anyone — yes, anyone! — can draw enough to think better.
Visual facilitation continues to grow in design, technology, consulting, and entrepreneurship. We highly encourage you to join this session, even if drawing feels unfamiliar or intimidating. You’ll leave with new tools, new confidence, and a new way to communicate ideas.
The conversation will be hosted by the founder of Design Thinking and Innovation – Tanveer Chaudhary. Please feel free to reach out to her via DM with questions for the speaker or comments regarding the event.
