SF/F Group

This sub-group focuses on Science Fiction and Fantasy, so if you have anything that falls under that category — be it short story, poem or novel-in-progress — then come! We'd love to hear from you.

Our format allows each reader 15 minutes to present their work... followed by approximately 20 minutes of feedback from the other attendees. To ensure a fair opportunity to respond, each attendee is limited to 1 minute of feedback time. (Using this structure, we are usually able to get through four readers in any given night.)

If a reader elects to post their work in advance (NOT a requirement!), members will be able to access that work under the "More" > "Files" section from the drop-down menu, above.

I am pawning off a kitten on a loving home tomorrow, so I will have to miss. (2 left if you know someone who is looking for a fuzzy friend)

I just saw this if your friend is still looking--kittens in need of homes at the Montgomery County shelter.

Hi Everyone. I need to recommend a book to everyone: Project Orion, the True Story of the Atomic Spaceship, by George Dyson. It's a great scientific history book about one of those crazier cold war project that sadly, yet possibly thankfully, never got off the ground.

Oh, and here's a link to the BBC documentary based on the book.

Springtime Follies is uploaded. Don't expect too much as I am still new at story writing, poetry is probably my better suit.

I've uploaded a flash piece to the files section. I hope to have another short piece to read tonight, assuming I can get it to a short enough length that I could read both in fifteen minutes.

Hello, as it turns out, It is not looking good for me to make it tonight due to some work urgencies. I am hoping to read soon though. I wonder if I can put my name in for June 17th? I am sorry to pull out on such short notice! -Chris

So it has been a good thing to get my name on the list in that it has gotten me writing, which had been missing for a while with the craziness in my house - and I do have two short story drafts, but have not had time to get either cleaned up as much as I would like before reading it to the group - So if one of the back-ups has something ready to go, it would be a better use of everyone's time to read that instead. If no one has something ready, I will read what I have -

Hey guys, I'm going to have to bow out from tomorrow's meetup. I just went to myrtle beach and brought home the flu for a souvenir. I don't care to share it.

I will try to have the first 4-5 pages uploaded tonight after racquetball and shopping for new hiking boots for this weekend, so may be a late evening.

I would be happy to read tomorrow. I will post my work (chapter 1 of a novel, hopefully) this evening.
    Best regards - Chris

I was asked to participate in a blog hop promoting a YA paranormal romance. Would anyone be interested in joining the blog hop? It's a post, try to find someone(s) after you to do another post sort of thing; anything with audience-crossover potential should be acceptable (so YA fantasy, or adult fantasy that could be considered teen-appropriate even if that's not the primary market). You don't have to be published but you do need to have a blog.

If you're interested you can send me your e-mail at [masked].
