First of our Donations

Happy Thursday!

I know I've been telling you all that we have had some money left over and are going to make some donations. The first donation is going out today!

Wag N Train Terrier Rescue is just that, a terrier rescue.  But, the founder Janeal Dominico has a soft spot for dachshunds--esp the wires!  The past summer/fall the rescue has taken in 16 1/2 doxies (or "honorary terriers"--the 1/2 being Rocket, the dachshund yorkie), had them completely vetted, put them in foster homes, and found most of them their forever homes.  Many of them came from puppy mills and would either still be trapped in a life of misery or would be dead by now had the rescue not opened it's door to them.

I thought we could do a little something to thank Wag N Train for their generosity towards the breed we love so much.  (Plus all the times some of our naughty wieners have chased fluffy dogs across the dog park, I think we owe the fluffies a formal apology!  Well, at least I do since my 2 boys are usually in the lead!)

A couple of weeks ago Janeal got a call about 3 Cairn terriers.  She had to drop everything and make a 3 hr drive to go pick up these dogs so they could be brought to safety.  She was told there were 3 female Cairns under the filthy, feces matted coats, overgrown to the point that they were uncomfortable in their own fur.  When they were shaved down, it was discovered that one of the 3 females was actually a male!  They were so neglected that the person didn't even know what sex the dogs were!

They have suffered skin and health issues, particularly dental problems (which often leads to heart issues.)  The two 6 yr old  girls had 35 and 40 teeth pulled due to infection, rot and decay. It's just such a shame to see any dog suffer like this....but they are now safe and on their way to good health.

So Wag N Train, we want to thank you for helping all the dogs the you do, whether they be Doxies, Cairns, Yorkies or Westies....what you do is greatly appreciated!

And to Marsha, Greg and Jan--we send the best wishes for you to find your forever loving homes soon!!!

PS Wag N Train dachshund fosters Bob Wire and Daisy are still looking for their forever homes, too!

Thanks so much and have a great day!
