What we're about

Welcome to the Dallas Cloud Computing Study Group!

This study group focuses on education and preparation for certification in Cloud technologies.

For the near future we are concentrating on the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (SAA-CO2) exam. This exam is described here (https://aws.amazon.com/certification/certified-solutions-architect-associate/). The exam guide with the topics is found here (https://d1.awsstatic.com/training-and-certification/docs-sa-assoc/AWS-Certified-Solutions-Architect-Associate_Exam-Guide.pdf)

We meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 1830 – 2030. In the COVID era, we are meeting virtually over Zoom exclusively, and anyone around the world is welcome to join!

Cloud Load Balancing - a closer look at the AWS, Azure and GCP offerings

Load Balancers are a critical component of enterprise applications. Starting off as hardware devices acting as “traffic cops” to becoming software based Application Delivery Controllers encompassing rich features, load balancing continues to evolve as application needs change. Join us for a deep dive into cloud load balancing covering AWS load balancer types and features, their counterparts in Azure and GCP, Security considerations at the load balancing layer and a hands-on live demo on deploying an application with load balancing in GCP.

If you have never seen the other clouds in action, this meeting is for you!

Three lucky winners chosen at random will get $25 in AWS usage credit.

Online event

We meet monthly to focus on a specific AWS topic, usually one related to the (SAA-CO2) exam. In these meetings, you will typically encounter a brief discussion of the what, why and how of the topic, followed by a hands-on demo that builds that concept in a lab AWS environment.

We usually follow that up with discussion of exam questions and strategies.
