Elm Hack Night

Details

We’ve spent the last 3.5 years talking about various functional programming languages, but it’s time to build something beyond simple games or coding problems.

So we’re working on a series of Elm hack nights.

The plan is to pick a project and start building something together in Elm (http://elm-lang.org) and continue working on it for a couple of months or as long as it stays interesting. We'll typically work together mob programming style, but bring your laptop in case we break into smaller groups or you want to explore on your own.

If you have an idea of something we could work on, please come share it.

Ideal project ideas for implementation in Elm would include an existing public API with interesting rich data that could be visualized in a web browser. If there is something that doesn't have a backend API, we could also decide to build out an API in a language like F#, Haskell, or Elixir.

This description will be updated when we decide on a specific project to start working on.

No prior knowledge or experience with Elm is required. We will continue to be an open and welcoming group. We’re all learning together!

All skill-levels, platforms, and backgrounds are welcome.

Improving provides the pizza and sodas.
