What is you favorite book? Why did you like it?

Beginnings: A Memoir by Horton Foote. Horton Foote was a contemporary of Tennessee Williams, they both explored similar themes, such as domineering mothers, and the urge of youth to break free from familial mooring but they viewed this psychic landscape from different perspectives. Tennessee Williams dwelled on despair, while Horton Foote saw a faint glimmer of light. Williams saw only the dark side, lives trapped in dead ends with no way out. Foote looked for escape routes. Foote believed, like Faulkner, that while there was life, there was the possibility of redemption—that mankind will endure, he will prevail. I have begun to watch the films with a character based on Horton Foote's father, beginning with the film "Convicts" when his father was a 13-year-old boy living in a town based on Wharton, Texas, about an hour outside of Houston.
