How long have you owned chickens?

I had a coop of chickens as a child in East Texas, but it's been almost 4 decades since then. We picked up a handful of chicks on 5/13/2010.

How many chickens do you own?

What breed of chickens do you own?

2 RIR and 2 EEs, Ideal stock from Roach feed in Garland. They live in an A-frame chicken tractor we move around the backyard.

What do you like most about owning chickens?

I like watching them and hearing their vocalizations. I like that they eat bugs and I use the manure in my compost stacks. Eggs are a bonus, assuming we get some.

How many people (other than yourself) have you helped get started owning chickens?

When I was a child we lived east of Greenville on a small farm and always had chickens scratching and bocking. I guess what they call "free range" now is what we called "running all over the place". :-)
