There will be speakers, demonstrations, and exhibitors covering all areas of sustainability. Some things will be familiar like renewable energy, organic gardening, & Permaculture; others may be less familiar like medicinal herbs, prepping, natural health, community, and use of earthen & other natural building materials.

CLASSES OFFERED throughout the day:

Jim Duncan - Jim talks about solar photovoltaics: the history, the industry, the technology, and the domestic and global impact of solar power.

Cathy Lemmon - Homeopathy is a centuries-old holistic healing method that helps the body to heal itself using remedies made from plant, animal, and mineral sources on the precept of "like cures like".

Randy Brooks - Imagine you are in the middle of an urban/suburban emergency--no escape from the city is possible and bedlam is reigning. How do you deal with such things as a city with no electricity, sewer, city water--or--supermarkets with no food?

Liz Smith - Two-time cancer survivor speaks about the signs and symptoms of estrogen dominance in water, food, and personal care products; the added risks this brings for heart attack/stroke/cancer; and how to correct this imbalance through natural means.

Jerry Sledge - Rocket mass heaters are the cleanest and most sustainable way to heat a conventional home. Class includes demonstration of a rocket stove, including the principles of a DIY rocket heater.

Mike Renner - Mike lives off-the-grid in Tarrant County using solar PV, solar hot water, and wind. He will tell you just how he uses each aspect so you can do it, too.

Bryan Mclaughlin - Bryan will demonstrate and speak about putting together a Bug-Out Bag, water purification, a bow drill, flint and steal fire, and other equipment needed in an emergency. He will cover both wilderness and urban situations.

Shalagram Das - After a brief overview of natural building methods in general, Shalagram will go into detail on his favorite form of building for this area: Compressed Earth Block and Adobe.

Adam Cohen - Adam will speak about the aquaponics method for growing a very high density of plants using the natural waste effluent from fish or other aquatic animals. Also, Adam will maintain a day-long demonstration to integrate this method into your home.

Dan Lepinski - Dan has maintained an off-the-grid home for emergencies for years. He is bringing his solar shuttle (a mobile solar generator) and will use it as a class room to take you through the steps to live off-grid yourself.

Pat Abramson - Our herb expert of Hunt County will give a program about medicinal herbs. You will learn to choose them, grow them, and then use herbs for medicinal reasons.

”Year in the Life of a Forest Garden” Martin Crawford is a pioneer in food forests who makes it impossible not to get enthusiastic about growing food this easy Permaculture way. Crawford’s DVD takes us through a full year in his mature food forest.

Bob Jordan - Bob’s seminar gives a very complete introduction to Aquaponics for beginners and any who needs a refresher. His demonstration of a quickly built, one-barrel system will be on display in his booth.

Scott McFarlin - Scott will be demonstrating a rainwater harvesting system that displays the various components he uses in the systems he designs. He explains why and where each object is used.

Farm Fresh Produce and Products - Local farmers offer their fall abundance to you during this day.

Heirloom Seed Exchange - Heirloom seeds are passed down from generation to generation. They have been "open pollinated," saved, planted, and grown again. If you have heirloom seeds to exchange yourself, please join our seed exchange -- will be scheduled for two, maybe three times during the day. Bring your heirloom seeds to the herbs booth for a pass to the Heirloom Seed Exchange

Renewable Energy Booth - If you have questions about renewable energy, here is the place to get then answered throughout the day. Hosted by North Texas Renewable Energy Group.
