New Member Day
Film is not something we do, film is a lifestyle. We believe that every great film begins with a great story and collaboration is the precursor to success. In January 2015 ten people got together with the idea of collaborating on film projects. In 2016 we had our first premiere and showed 5 completed shorts. A fire was lit and between then and our Third premiere in July 2018, 300 volunteers had complete 16 shorts. Most reaching inside themselves to discover creative, technical and artistic talents while making their first film. Every month, the DFA holds a New Member Day to introduce who we are, what we do, and how we operate. People of all levels are encouraged to join, ranging from beginners new to film but interested in telling visual stories, and film veterans who are seeking to establish their network in Dallas and involvement in organized productions. 2018 is your year. Our next New Member Day is followed by our regular meeting. This event is open to public, so stop by join the fun. If you have any questions, please post them here. See you Sunday! What we're about

A place for indie screenwriters to collaborate and learn together as we develop our scripts with the intent of pitching them for production.

Every great film begins with a great story.

Dallas Screenwriting Crew focuses on telling the best possible story through hand-written workshops, table reads and critique, and preparing screenwriters for a career as a writer.

Workshops are hand-written and cater to all levels of writers and screenwriters. Our goal is to teach the fundamental building blocks of story, how to write and format a screenplay through industry standards, and how to formulate an investible story with compelling characters.

Table read and critique sessions give screenwriters the opportunity to hear their screenplay read aloud, and receive feedback from Dallas Screenwriting Crew members in a group format, by following the brain-trust method of criticism. Our goal is to check our egos at the door, and make every story brought to us the best story it can be.

Career Screenwriters are great at three things: consistently writing screenplays and honing the craft, pitching projects to potential agents, studios or filmmakers, and marketing skills as a screenwriter through social media and maintaining an industry presence.

Dallas Screenwriting Crew meets every other Saturday, from 1:00-4:00pm

What you should know now:
