What we're about

A place for indie screenwriters to collaborate and learn together as we develop our scripts with the intent of pitching them for production.

Every great film begins with a great story.

Dallas Screenwriting Crew focuses on telling the best possible story through hand-written workshops, table reads and critique, and preparing screenwriters for a career as a writer.

Workshops are hand-written and cater to all levels of writers and screenwriters. Our goal is to teach the fundamental building blocks of story, how to write and format a screenplay through industry standards, and how to formulate an investible story with compelling characters.

Table read and critique sessions give screenwriters the opportunity to hear their screenplay read aloud, and receive feedback from Dallas Screenwriting Crew members in a group format, by following the brain-trust method of criticism. Our goal is to check our egos at the door, and make every story brought to us the best story it can be.

Career Screenwriters are great at three things: consistently writing screenplays and honing the craft, pitching projects to potential agents, studios or filmmakers, and marketing skills as a screenwriter through social media and maintaining an industry presence.

Dallas Screenwriting Crew meets every other Saturday, from 1:00-4:00pm

What you should know now:

Writers in this crew will have the opportunity to see their story made into a film. The opportunities will come and we're not stopping! How do we know? Because we're already doing it! Check out the Dallas Film Crew (http://www.meetup.com/DallasFilmCrew/) for more information and check our Facebook Group (http://www.facebook.com/dallasscreenwritingcrew).

Flash Film Screening - Comedy Films!
Needs a date and time

Needs a location

Come watch some short films made in 6 weeks! All films are Comedy! Flash Films are our way of getting filmmakers together and cutting to the chase, filming! Our members are given a theme, put into teams, and have 6-7 weeks to complete their film. Teams are made up of individuals working together for the first time and come from all levels of experience. The goal is to get the film done, no matter what. We believe the best way to learn is to do, and this is our way of pushing for that belief. The DFA helps teams through production with follow-ups and guidance to ensure they stay on track for completion. Films that are submitted by the deadline get to screen at our Flash Film Screening. Flash Film Screenings are an organized event with all the completed productions plus Q&A from the filmmakers.
