We'll be taking the work and approach of the Project for a Progressive Ethics as a starting point for a session about developing the expressive power of visual mapping of arguments, decisions, ethical frameworks.
There is an explosion in visual representation of all kinds or relational networks.
The power, flexibility and sophistication of the underlying tools is growing rapidly, but the quality of the graphs themselves has not materially developed to keep pace.
Circles with arrows - a little bit of colour, varied widths, simple labels - that's about it.

To access metadata about an element, typically it has to be clicked, to bring up a text box.
We're sure that the capacities of the human visual cortex can be leveraged to read much more metadata as pure graphics - styles of line, shape of node, inline labels - all sorts of things can be explored. At the same time, visual languages need some level of consistency for wide adoption - so public schemas are needed. How will these be communicated to , and adopted by a wide field of startups and initiatives? How will people learn to 'read' these maps?

This is a rich, deep field that we can have a great time exploring. Please, come and engage!

This event is run in tandem with the Project for a Progressive Ethics: https://www.meetup.com/Project-for-a-Progressive-Ethics/events/246676252/
