Each event features data professionals from different AI-driven companies, who share with us state-of-the-art knowledge and insights from the data and AI world. The result is in-depth knowledge sessions that provoke discussions that inform, educate, and support our data-driven audience.

Talk 1 - Building smarter: parametric design, AI and the future of sustainable cities
Learn more about how parametric design, AI and high‑performance computing enable developers to generate and optimize thousands of design options in minutes. The housing crisis is growing, while real estate and construction account for roughly 40% of global CO₂ emissions. OMRT helps developers make better‑informed decisions by producing and comparing many design variants rapidly. Their platform uses high‑performance computing and AI to optimize design performance at scale, accelerating speed, accuracy and flexibility.

Bio speaker: Jasper Spiegeler is co-founder and CEO of OMRT, a Dutch proptech scale-up that helps real estate developers design and optimize projects using computational and AI-driven solutions. He is 34 years old and is considered a bomb of energy that leads his team with a positive mindset.

Learn more about building a strong data foundation that turns raw data into reliable, actionable insight. Data alone isn’t enough: a solid foundation also requires deep understanding of the business it supports. Woonstad built a central data platform as a single source of truth with transparent, near‑real‑time access. On top of that foundation they developed data products aligned with strategy, freeing time for meaningful work and enabling data to actively support decision‑making.

Bio speaker: Lotte van der Klei is an Analytics Translator and Analytics Engineer at Aurai, based in Amsterdam. She has nearly five years of experience across business, data science, and data engineering, and facilitates workshops and training to bridge the gap between data and decision‑making. Outside work she enjoys hosting pub quizzes and game shows, designing handbags and accessories, and exploring new forms of exercise.

Deep Learning based Multi-Source Data Fusion to Map Deforested Areas in the Amazon Rainforest by Akhil Chhibber, Machine Learning Engineer

The Amazon is vast and often covered by clouds, which makes it hard to track deforestation using only standard satellite pictures. Akhil will explain his method of combining those pictures with radar images that can see through clouds (SAR). By using an advanced computer program to analyze both types of images, he can create much more accurate maps of deforested areas. Find out how this method provides the essential details needed to manage the forest better, even in cloudy weather.

Beyond Tagging: Modern Solutions for Sea Turtle Monitoring by Inês Silva Veríssimo, Data Scientist at Xomnia

Traditional ways of tracking sea turtles are often invasive, expensive, and difficult to do on a large scale. While using Al is a promising alternative, it can be hard to apply in nature because of low-quality images and a lack of consistent data collection.
Inês will share how her team at Xomnia built a practical online system for processing images and an easy-to-use website. These tools help conservationists in their daily work. Learn how they chose effective technology that was also simple to operate, creating a reliable tool for everyday biodiversity monitoring.

Empowering Wildlife Rangers with Data-Driven Conservation by Maria Bader, Technical Lead at CorrelAidNL

Maria will present a project by CorrelAidNL, a community of data scientists using their skills for social good. In collaboration with the non-profit Sensing Clues, a team of volunteers developed an interactive app to help wildlife rangers protect ecosystems in Europe and Africa. Maria will explain how they used open-source satellite imagery to build a tool that tracks vegetation health over time, empowering rangers on the ground to make informed, data-driven decisions for sustainable landscape management.
