De-risk the future using synthetic data

Details
Hello,
Please join us to learn about how RUNWITHIT uses synthetic data at scale, with synthetic models to reduce future risk. Each Synthetic Model brings to life the emergent intersections between humans, technologies, systems, and futures so that decision-makers can plan and act with certainty based on quantified information.
Speaker Intro:
As an international student form Bangladesh, Sama Ahmed graduated in 2020 with her Master’s Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Alberta and joined RUNWITHIT as a project lead. Sama now coordinates research, modelling, visual design, social, computer, and data scientists who combine all types of knowledge, process, and technology to enable better futures for everyone.
Since 2020, Sama’s portfolio of live data environments with RUNWITHIT have received international recognition winning awards from the United Nations, Toyota Mobility Foundation, USAF’s AFWERX, Electric Power Research Institute, NATO, and Taiwan’s Top Technology Gold Medal. RUNWITHIT focuses convergence, synthetic augmentation, and visualization in science, de-siloing decisions in policy, programming, technology and infrastructure investments to solve some of the most pressing questions around urban growth, transportation, climate change, disasters, decarbonization, resilience, health, security, and equity.
Sama recently returned from the launch of RUNWITHIT’s latest live 3D data environment called the Holodeck (yes, like on Star Trek) at a National Science Foundation funded tabletop event in Washington DC, with members of NASA, NOAA, FEMA, NERC, DHS, Department of Energy, Space Weather Prediction Center, USGS, University of Georgia Tech, University of Michigan (and more) present. Launching the RWI Holodeck at this Sun-to-Grid event, where they explored mitigations for extreme solar weather represents RUNWITHIT’s capability to bring together diverse, expert stakeholders and their extensive models and datasets to inform the most complex mitigations, saving lives and livelihoods and the critical infrastructure we rely on.
Company Intro:
RUNWITHIT Synthetics (RWI) is a woman-led, certified Aboriginal Business that has been recognized for commitment to diversity and inclusion in hiring practices, corporate culture, and of course, in the live-data environments they build for clients. RWI has a focus on convergence in science, de-risking and de-siloing decisions in policy, programming, investments and response when it comes to energy, mobility, resilience, power grid, natural disasters, municipal growth, decarbonization, as well as unprecedented “what-if” scenarios that could have unexpected and disproportionate impacts on vulnerable populations, communities and businesses.
Using diverse sources of open data, research and expertise, RWI develops never-identified, accurate populations for regions that can include future demographics, behaviours, preferences, experiences, and activities. These synthetic populations inform the demand, impact and outcome side of scenarios ranging from unprecedented EV adoption to climate adaptation or even disasters. The synthetic data that is generated during these scenarios supports decisions where access to historical data is insufficient as historical data is often incomplete, biased, or restricted by regulation.
Cheers!
